I think of the mothers, daughters and sisters in Ukraine sheltering in bunkers from Russian bombs. Three hundred women share the same fate. They resemble one another, yet each is unique.

A collage made with a brush, acrylic paint and scissors became a generative collection. I am donating all of my profits to aid Ukraine.

THE STORY OF THE WORK

In February, I was working on a different collage of heads and eyes. Then the war, less than a thousand miles from my Prague studio, stopped me. Reports under #Kyiv and "HIGH ALERT" tweets warning of imminent bombing left me paralyzed. Everything seemed pointless, and I put the unfinished work aside.

Later, I saw women sheltering in bunkers in its silhouettes. I decided to confront evil through art — the only weapon I know how to use.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

With a brush and scissors, I assembled a spare composition of colored drops, black silhouettes and striking eyes. It became a series of three hundred women who share a fate while each remains unique.

I photographed the parts of the collage and divided them into three types. Each type consists of three layers with several states.

Mother / rarity 43% — top layer (eyes and lips) 13 states, middle layer (silhouettes) 6 states, bottom layer (drops) 4 states
